We welcome you to the Towne Crier Cafe, where we have always focused on presenting the best in the performing arts and creative dining. Founded by Phil Ciganer in 1972 in an early American general store and stagecoach stop in historic Beekmanville hamlet (east of Hopewell Junction in Dutchess County), the Cafe has continued to pursue its vision in its Pawling home since 1988. It has become a Hudson Valley cultural institution, a Mecca for musicians and a magnet for listeners and diners, due to its prestigious roster of performers and their presentation in an intimate setting that respects their music above all else. At this point the Towne Crier is one of the oldest on-going venues of its type in the country, inspiring many others. Our goal remains to offer a unique experience of comfort, dining and entertainment.
   While we have always brought to our stage the most highly regarded musicians from a wide range of styles and from all over the country and around the world, we have also featured many now-famed artists in the early stages of their careers. The photographs on the wall of the lounge depict just a few of the performers who have graced our stage over the years. The list below includes many (but not all) of the artists we've presented to appreciative audiences. With thousands of shows behind us, we look forward to a bright future.
