NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION!
Featuring...
LIPBONE REDDING & The LipBone Orchestra
The "THE BAND" Band
KELLY FLINT Group

Lipbone ReddingReturning to light up our New Year's Eve Celebration for the third consecutive year, Lipbone Redding & The LipBone Orchestra has proven themselves to be the perfect band for this special evening! Lipbone has the sly charm of the Southern bluesman, the cool wisdom of a New York folkie, and creative energy that has a way of elevating the mood as we celebrate the coming of the new year.
Redding has developed the uncanny ability to convincingly emulate the sounds of a trumpet or trombone with remarkable precision. Everything on his new CD, Hop the Fence, that sounds like a horn is actually the product of Lipbone's voice and lips. Even more notable is Lipbone's ability to write Jazz, Blues, Jam and Soul savvy songs and then incorporate his unique skill into them. He also has some help from Jeff Eyrich on upright bass and Rich Zukor on drums -- both veteran players and heavy duty cats who are also the rhythm section for Dave's True Story.

The THE BAND BandJoining us for their first New Year's Eve celbration at the Towne Crier, The "THE BAND" Band is a fun, seasoned and highly skilled quintet that recreates the legendary music of the group "The Band." It's tempting to use the word "nostalgia," but it's hard to be nostalgic when this group practically brings the classic rock experience to life in front of you in a manner true to its original style and form, evoking the sound and the spirit of their live performances; to perform their songs for longtime fans as well as a new generation of listeners; and to have fun doing it. The five members of this group are seasoned veteran musicians who have played both locally and nationwide for over 30 years. All are multi-instrumentalists, and all sing. They share a love for the music of The Band, and formed this tribute band for the sheer enjoyment of playing their songs. By covering all the well-loved favorites, as well as a broad selection of lesser -knowns, they showcase the astounding breadth and depth of The Band's music. Says bassist Gary Solomon, "We're somewhat unique, as tribute bands go, mainly because nobody else is covering The Band. And, because of that, our shows have been very well attended, and very well received." It's been 32 years since The Band performed live with their original lineup. With the passing of Richard Manuel in 1986 and Rick Danko in 1999, and Levon Helm's recent bout with throat cancer that silenced his voice for several years, fans of The Band have been waiting a long time to hear their music as it was originally presented. The waiting is over!

Kelly Flint"Postmodern folk with a tinge of Americana...." If you had to reduce the music of Kelly Flint to a morsel-sized bite, that's what you might say. But, Kelly was also the sultry voice for the sometimes playful–often sophisticated–always intelligent songs of David Cantor, with whom she and husband Jeff Eyrich made five albums as Dave's True Story, toast of The New York Times, the Kennedy Center.
However, the time came for Flint to unfurl her own songs, her wings to fly; or, as she puts it, to "Drive All Night," the title of her first solo recording. This is an album that is the sum total of the places her life has taken her to: music with warm, organic arrangements, acoustic sonorities and occasionally the flavor of America's open-road every-day reality. Within these songs, you can discern Flint's Midwestern youth, spent soaking up the life around her, along with the classic folk-rock of the 1970s. Flint's coming of age in New York City – and all those nights singing the jazzy songs of Dave's True Story – are also part of Kelly and her music. You can still hear the combination of hope and world-weariness, blue moods and gossamer balladry that helped make that group indie darlings.
More recently, Kelly has also made a name for herself by creating & hosting a series of artist interviews & music called the Upstairs Sessions, at The Living Room in NYC.
