Great memories!HAPPY 94th, ST. PETE!
In folk music, all roads lead to Pete Seeger, a giant of a man—and good friend of the Towne Crier. Pete wrote "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," "Turn, Turn, Turn," and "If I had a Hammer." He turned "We Shall Overcome" into an anthem. As a Weaver, he sang truth to power. And he captained the Clearwater to a cleaner Hudson River. He even convinced John Hammond to produce Dylan!
More than anyone, Pete Seeger has proven that music can change the world.
Pete has played here many times over the years, and for many reasons. We can't imagine our musical world without him, and we look forward to welcoming him to our new home in Beacon.
This photo, taken after a Seeger Family show at the Crier, is nearly 20 years old. From left, Mike Seeger, Phil, Peggy Seeger, Pete, Toshi Seeger. ... See MoreSee Less
